HUG FOR A CAUSE!!!
As we approach the final events of the year, we would like to invite you to join us as we celebrate the World Psoriasis Day (WPD) 2010.
On October 30 2010, we hope to convene the biggest ever assembly of doctors, patients and supporters where we will stage our WPD 2010 Funwalk programs at the Rajah Sulayman, Roxas Blvd., Manila wherein we will be attempting the “Biggest Hug Me” for the Guinness World Records.
We celebrate World Psoriasis Day—an international day of recognition for people living with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. This year, World Psoriasis Day focuses on childhood psoriasis.
Children with psoriasis and/or psoriatic arthritis face significant emotional and physical challenges. Many experience bullying and discrimination, along with the pain and disability of the disease. Currently, there is no drug approved by the Food and Drug Administration for children with psoriasis.
You and your family can support yourself and other families affected by psoriatic disease by taking action to raise awareness about childhood psoriasis.
Psoriasis (pronounced /səˈraɪ.əsɨs/) is a chronic, autoimmune disease that appears on the skin. It occurs when the immune system sends out faulty signals that speed up the growth cycle of skin cells. Psoriasis is not contagious.[1] There are five types of psoriasis: plaque, guttate, inverse, pustular and erythrodermic. The most common form, plaque psoriasis, is commonly seen as red and white hues of scaly patches appearing on the top first layer of the Epidermis (skin). Although, some patients have no dermatological symptoms.
